Transformation Efforts
Transformation Efforts
As we imagine a new way of providing housing and public benefits for all immigrants, we must push for true transformation, and demand housing, health care, education, employment, and transportation as a right for all. And we must support immigrant Black, Brown, Indigenous and LGBTQ communities in governing the systems that make funding and policy decisions that affect these supports and in designing and implementing those supports.
All young people, regardless of immigration status, have equitable access to all of the transformative efforts outlined in the Housing Justice Pillar, inclusive of those on crisis housing, long-term housing, and youth supports and for newly arriving immigrants these housing and supports are offered immediately upon arrival
Community organizations operated by immigrant communities are fully resourced to provide the outreach, education, and supportive services needed to ensure access, including language services, peer-to-peer counseling, transportation, and legal support.
Federal protections are offered for all immigrants to protect the legal right to access housing, public benefits, education, and employment immediately upon arrival.
